Berkeley borders “The Highlands” of northwest Denver. The Tennyson Cultural Art District, located on a strip of Tennyson Street from 38th Ave to 46th, is no stranger to Denverites, and is still experiencing exciting growth.
This friendly and welcoming neighborhood boasts a fine assortment of restaurants, concert venues, and unique shopping boutiques. In most recent news, Natural Grocers has just announced it will be opening along the strip during the summer of 2015
Adding to the excitement, construction is underway for the third location of the triple restaurant concept that is Atomic Cowboy, Denver Biscuit Company, and Fat Sullys Pizza, which all operate under the same roof.
Tennyson Street welcomes new concepts and local business opportunities with open arms. Danver’s first cat café, the Denver Cat Company offers all patrons the experience of sipping coffee or tea while being surrounded by loving, adoptable cats that will happily snuggle by your side.
From the folks who brought Freshcraft to downtown Denver, Block & Larder has made Tennyson Street its home, while burger bar The Royal will occupy the other portion of the building. Block & Larder showcases a chophouse style flavor, while The Royal, owned by Josh Epps of the infamous breakfast spot Jelly, will be casual and family-friendly.
Call to Arms Brewing Company has recently signed onto a location along this strip as well. Three former Avery Brewing Company employees have joined forces to bring new brews onto Tennyson Street. This will mean two breweries within just a block or two from each other as De Steeg brewery has already made its presence known along the strip.
Local 46 offers one of the coolest patio experiences. Not to mention their top-notch service, friendly patrons, ever-rotating art on their walls, and an eclectic music lineup. This is a venue that welcomes families as a whole and has hula hoops on-site for kiddos of all ages. Local 46 has been going strong for over 2 years now and is one of the neighborhood’s favorite hot spots to socialize.
Tennyson Street offers monthly First Friday art walks, and unique shopping as well. Considered to be the spine of the Berkeley neighborhood, The Tennyson strip is the place to meet with friends, go shopping, or even take the dog for a nice walk. It’s a family-friendly vibe in a fun and energetic neighborhood. You can enter any restaurant, bar, or boutique along this strip and feel warmly welcomed.
