5 New Year’s Tips to Improving Your Home

As we dive into the new year, we often create resolutions that directly impact ourselves and may overlook our surroundings. We’ve compiled some of the most popular and affordable home improvement projects for spicing up your home.

1) Invest in smart home devices

While it can be difficult to keep up with the age of technology, there are a lot of varying options for adding smart home devices without breaking the bank.  Smart thermostats, robot vacuums, smart light bulbs and automated window shades are many of the options available. Moreover, many of these devices can actually help you save money in the long-run!

2) Service your HVAC system

This is one task we tend to overlook; however, it is one that can save you thousands of dollars. Dust and dirt can build up in your HVAC system over time, which not only impacts the system’s efficiency but also the quality of the air you breathe. We always recommend getting your HVAC serviced at the beginning of each year, makes it easy to track when it was last serviced.

3) Clean out your pantry

A major resolution for many people is keeping better organized. How we stay organized at home, can correlate to our day to day professional organization. The kitchen pantry is often overlooked since everything is already tucked away and out of sight. We recommend reducing pantry clutter by throwing away any expired goods or items that have gone unused. You may be surprised by how good a pantry purge may feel.

4) Add fresh paint

This is a sure way to create a fresh new feeling in your home! Paint trends fade and some colors can become boring and stagnant. There is no better way to spice up your abode than with a fresh paint job. Whether you are trying to brighten a dark space or prep your house for listing, this is a great way to kickstart the year. TIP: if you are preparing your house to sell later in the year, try and stick with neutral colors.

5) Reorganize your home furniture

You may love your current home layout, but reorganizing your home can stimulate you to think more creatively and help keep your space organized and clean. Small changes can have a big impact on the look and feel of your home, it is nice to spice things up every now and then.
