5 Fun Facts About the Denver Broncos

Share

Pull out your favorite orange and blue attire, the Denver Broncos are back at it again! LUX. Denver welcomes this season with five fun facts about our favorite football team.

1.

In the late 1960’s our precious Broncos nearly moved the franchise to Alabama due to taxpayers vote against a $250,000 stadium expansion plan. Bermingham Broncos? We think NOT!

2.

John Elway, a true Bronco legend, wasn’t always throwing the pig skin. In the summer of 1982, he played for the New York Yankee’s farm team. It is safe to say we are happy he switched over to football.

3.

Once upon a time Denver’s mayor, Michael Hancock, was the Denver Bronco’s mascot! Mayor Hancock was just 17-years-old at the time making $25 per game.

4.

Does #18 ring a bell?  Frank Tripucka, original Bronco’s quarterback, had the claim to fame with this jersey number. Number 18 was retired in 1963 in honor of Mr. Tripucka, and in 2002 it was resurrected upon Payton Manning’s joining of the Broncos!

5.

This last one is a bit of a tear-jerker, but also can’t help but smile. Get this, the Bronco’s first male cheerleader was the one and only Robin Williams! Our dearly missed Robin Williams showed up in a glittered mini skirt and some fashionable boots after the Bronco’s 1979 home win. WE MISS YOU ROBIN!!
