Bonnie Brae is placed east of University between Mississippi and Exposition Avenues. Its east and west boundaries are University and Steele Street, respectively. The neighborhood was developed in the 20’s on land that had formerly been owned by the Kansas Pacific Railroad. This was before it became part of the city of Denver.
A businessman named George W Olinger accumulated land in the area for a development project. He named the Neighborhood ‘Bonnie Brae’ is a translation from Gaelic of a ‘pleasant hill’. The neighborhood is easily identified by its stone pillars, which were an early investment into the neighborhood’s character.
