Buying a Home in Highlands / West Highlands
Located just a few miles northwest of Downtown, Highlands offers suburban life qualities and trendy shopping and eateries. Bordered by Jefferson Park to the south and Sunnyside to the north, this neighborhood offers easy access to Downtown Denver, I-25, and the mountains.
The neighborhood was created by the founder of Denver, William Larimer, Jr., in 1859 during the construction of the Platte River bridge. The Navajo Street Art District is a must-see destination. The Highland Street Fair is a free annual festival with 150 vendors and live music.
There are many small, independent shops with a long history in the area, mixed in with daring, cutting edge cuisine and many interesting and eclectic buildings.

Attraction and Things to Do Around West Highlands
West Highlands feels like a nice cozy neighborhood but is close to various urban destinations. Sloans lake is very close by and offers a nearly 3-mile circumference and fun attractions such as the annual dragon boat races. Lowell Blvd and 32nd have shopping centers with great food, fun nightlife, and many unique one-of-a-kind stores.
West Highlands is also only 5-10 minutes from Downtown and 15-20 minutes from Red Rocks amphitheater. This neighborhood is a hotspot for those who enjoy the energy of city living but want a house outside downtown boundaries. The architectural designs range from brick Bungalows to modern lofts, Tudors, and historic mansions sitting on well-manicured, tree-lined streets. Residents in this area have easy access to many of Denver’s main commuting routes such as I-70, I-25, and Speer Blvd. Highland Square is a major focal point in this area with many hip shops and restaurants and coffee shops.
